Mt clinical career was as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and my research focus was health and social care as a social scientist.
Through professional roles I work to drive evidenced-based policy into practice to improve outcomes for vulnerable people and reach parity for mental health. Past roles include: President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists; Chair of the UK Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, where I led the Choosing Wisely campaign; Mental Health Advisor to Health Education England and Advisor to the Minister for Health and Social Services in Wales for the Together for Children Programme. Currently, Chair Centre for Mental Health, NED Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board and NED KOOTH Mental Health online digital platform.
