Bevan Fellows Steering Group Member
Nigel has worked in ambulance services in Wales since 1989 holding clinical and research and innovation leadership roles. He Pre-Hospital Emergency Research Unit, which is the R&I arm of the WAST. He regularly presents at national and international conferences and has collaborated to secure over 15 million in R&I grant funding. He has been Chief and Principal Investigator on several large-scale R&I trials and projects and published 96 peer-reviewed journal articles. His research interests are many and include clinical trials, qualitative research, and use of drones and artificial intelligence in technologies in prehospital care.
Nigel is formerly the Wales Council member of the College of Paramedics and currently serves on many boards, including the Bevan Commission, NHS Wales R&D Leadership Board, Wales Innovation Leads, MOVEMBER International research funding panel, National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) HTA Funding Committee for Clinical Evaluations and Trials and more. Nigel is an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Paramedic Practice and Associate Editor for the Australasian College of Paramedics Journal Paramedicine. Nigel is a Fellow of the College of Paramedics and was awarded the Queens Ambulance Medal in the 2017 New Year’s Honours.
