Emeritus Professor Gregor Coster CNZM was until recently Professor of Health Policy and founding Dean of the Faculty of Health at Te Herenga Wake Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Formerly he was Professor of General Practice at the University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
He was the founding Chair of WorkSafe New Zealand, the national health and safety regulator, established following the Pike River coal mine disaster in 2010. He has been a board member of the Accident Compensation Corporation, and Chair of the Counties Manukau District Health Board.
Professor Gregor Coster was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2007 for services to public health.
