Dr. Dewi Eurfyl Thomas, Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist, Swansea Bay University Health Board
Dr. Dewi Thomas is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Morriston Hospital Regional Cardiac Centre and was appointed in September 2016. He specialises in all aspects of heart rhythm management including the use of catheter ablation to treat arrhythmia as well as the implantation and follow-up of pacemakers, defibrillators and resynchronisation devices.
Dewi has a keen interest in service development, education and research, and since his appointment has helped to lead the development of regional Electrophysiology services in collaboration with neighbouring health boards, establishing new treatment pathways for patients previously referred elsewhere.
Dewi is heavily involved in education on both a local and national level. He serves as Educational Lead for the British Heart Rhythm Society, and is a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Lead for Cardiovascular Medicine at Swansea University.
Dewi’s research interests include novel techniques for arrhythmia mapping, AF ablation in heart failure and conduction system pacing. Dewi currently serves as Principal Investigator for two large multi-centre RCTs in these areas.
