How can we recover in Wales

On 1st December, the Bevan Commission brought together international health and care leaders to discuss and reflect on the different international approaches countries are taking to health system recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic. This was the final event in the Doing Things Differently series.

Leaders from Italy, Spain, the USA, and New Zealand joined the discussion with NHS Wales Chief Executive Judith Paget and the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Wales (Vaccines) Dr Gill Richardson, along with the Bevan Commission’s International Lead and IFIC Senior Associate Leo Lewis. It was chaired by Dr Chris Martin.

Discussions centred around how each country has responded to the pandemic, how their health systems have adapted to the changing needs of their populations and the importance of innovating at pace and scale.
