Bevan Fellow
Marie is a Technology Transfer Manager within the Research and Development team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), where she has worked for over 10 years, gaining experience in a variety of roles. During her time in R&D, she has been fortunate to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams both locally and nationally to drive innovation. Marie has recently completed an MSc in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship, which has broadened her perspective on the numerous opportunities available to leverage innovation principles in healthcare. She is passionate about exploring how the benefits of an innovation framework can work for all of us when we engage in cross-functional and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Welsh innovation ecosystem is vast, with numerous organisation’s available to support the acceleration of new products and services. Marie is keen to showcase these resources Additionally, she aims to highlight useful innovation principles by emphasising concepts such as “dynamic capabilities”, which enable us to adapt, innovate and respond to the evolving needs of our patients and “Open innovation” to encourage collaboration cross-functionally and cross sectorally to enhance healthcare solutions. She is particularly interested in intrapreneurship and eager to explore collaborative opportunities that lead to the development of new products and services.
Marie’s Bevan Fellows project is titled “Enhancing Innovation in BCUHB:Building on the All Wales Innovation Framework,” it centres on supporting the adoption of the All Wales Innovation Framework at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). Her goal is to tailor this framework to better suit the unique needs of BCUHB in North Wales, ensuring it effectively promotes cross-functional engagement across all departments and specialties.
“I see this fellowship as a valuable opportunity to share my experiences within the innovation ecosystem and to highlight the benefits of leveraging existing resources to accelerate technology, especially during a time when prudence in spending and reducing waste are essential. I appreciate how the innovation framework can support these goals. Additionally, I am eager to connect with new colleagues and individuals who share a passion for change and learning. I am open to exploring various perspectives and insights, as I believe that collaboration and shared experiences can lead to meaningful growth and innovation.”
